Oxford Textbook of Medicine Now Available Through Books@Ovid - Over 50 Clinical Titles Now Available (17/10/01)

LONDON, U.K., October 17th, 2001 – The Oxford Textbook of Medicine, 3rd Edition, Oxford University Press' best-selling medical textbook, is the latest addition to Ovid's electronic collection of clinical reference books. With more than 50 titles currently available and dozens more coming soon, Books@Ovid is now the most comprehensive source of electronic clinical textbooks in the world.

The Oxford Textbook of Medicine (ed. D. J. Weatherall, J.G.G. Ledingham, and D.A. Warrell) is renowned worldwide for its broad base coverage of the basic sciences and scientific developments as well as disease management. . This comprehensive internal medicine textbook is an ideal primary general medicine reference for specialists, primary care physicians, other clinicians, and medical students as well as an excellent entry point to the literature on common and rare diseases that students and residents are likely to encounter.

Truly international in scope (with contributors from the UK, France, Germany, Denmark, US, Australia, Thailand, Vietnam, South Africa, and Ethiopia), the Oxford Textbook of Medicine presents a global perspective on disease and provides strong coverage of infectious diseases that were once restricted to tropical climates. This new edition includes new information from clinical trials and also provides coverage of evidence-based medicine. The expansion of some of the background chapters on the basic sciences should be of particular value to students and physicians in countries in which access to current literature is limited.

Additional Oxford University Press titles such as the New Oxford Textbook of Psychiatry, the Oxford Textbook of Surgery, 2nd ed., and the Oxford Textbook of Critical Care will be added to the Books @Ovid collection during the coming months.
