IVS is pleased to announce that the 2003 edition of SilverPlatter MEDLINEŽ is now available via the Internet Service.

 SilverPlatter MEDLINEŽ uses the 2003 edition of MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) from the National Library of Medicine.  Changes to MeSH for 2003 include:

• 1251 descriptors added representing concepts with no directly corresponding descriptors in 2002 MeSH (i.e., new concepts and   records)
  
• 93 descriptors replaced with more up-to-date terminology
  
• 20 descriptors deleted
  
• 1727 see references (print entry terms) added
  
• 1 qualifier added

 The following change has been made to the database:

 Accession Number (AN) and Unique Identifier (UI):

 The PubMed Unique Identifier (PMID) was formerly output to the UI field and the MedlineID to the AN field.  For 2003, the PMID will be the sole accession number for Medline and has been moved to the AN field.  The UI field has been removed.
