    Patrologia Latina Database

No single collection of Western philosophical and theological writings is comparable to the Patrologiae Cursus Completus, the extraordinary achievement of the nineteenth-century scholar and priest, Jacques-Paul Migne.

The Patrologia is divided into the Patrologia Latina and the Patrologia Graeco-Latina. The Patrologia Latina covers the works of the Latin Fathers from Tertullian around 200 AD to the death of Pope Innocent III in 1216. In 221 volumes it covers most major and minor Latin authors, and contains the most influential works of late ancient and early medieval theology, philosophy, history and literature.

The Patrologia Latina Database is the full-text electronic version of the Patrologia Latina, including all prefatory material, original texts, critical apparatus, indexes and illustrations.

The Patrologia Latina Database has made an enormous difference to the work of scholars of patristics, theology, medieval history and Latin. In many other disciplines in the humanities, from philosophy and medieval languages to the history of art and the history of medicine, it is making a significant contribution to research. No other full-text database in the humanities serves so many disciplines in so many ways.

The CD-ROM interface is available in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish

    Acta Sanctorum Database

The Acta Sanctorum are aTEST principal source for research into the societies and cultures of early Christian and medieval Europe. Our knowledge of this period relies heavily on hagiographical literature, and specifically on this monumental collection of texts, published over a period of three hundred years by the Société des Bollandistes.

The Acta Sanctorum Database now makes this vast body of literature available in electronic form, providing a new level of access to these texts and enabling them to be searched quickly and efficiently for names, topics and themes.

The Acta Sanctorum Database contains the complete texts of the sixty-eight printed volumes. It is being prepared with the help and co-operation of the Société des Bollandistes and includes the Biblitheca Hagiographica Latina reference numbers, whitch are widely used by scolars to identify hagiographical texts.

    Luthers Werke

Martin Luther (1483-1546) is a central figure in the development of European culture, not only as a result of his religious influence, but also for his contribution to the establishment of the High German language. The complete Weimar Edition of his works is an essential resource for scholars of German language and literature as well as for theologians, historians and philosophers.

Luthers Werke will invite new approaches to study by harnessing this complete and definitive edition to powerful search software. In addition to his Bible translations and his treatises, the database will include his sermons, letters, Tischreden, poems and hymns, enabling scholars to navigate with ease through his works, finding every occurrence of a word or phrase. Searches may be limited to a particular work or genre, or expanded to include the entire database.
